BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) derived from a protein found in human gastric juice. It has been extensively studied in animal models for its remarkable healing and protective properties across multiple organ systems. BPC-157 accelerates the healing of tendons, ligaments, muscles, bones, and the gastrointestinal tract. It is one of the most popular peptides in the performance and recovery community, used primarily for injury rehabilitation, joint healing, and gut health. While human clinical data is still limited, the breadth of animal research is extraordinary.

BPC-157 is not FDA-approved for any indication. It is classified as a research peptide. The overwhelming majority of data comes from rodent studies. A Phase II clinical trial for inflammatory bowel disease has been completed but full results have not been published. Despite limited human data, user reports are overwhelmingly positive for injury recovery.
BPC-157 has a complex and multifaceted mechanism of action. It promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation) through upregulation of VEGF and other growth factors, accelerating blood supply to damaged tissues. It modulates the nitric oxide (NO) system, which is central to tissue repair and inflammation resolution. BPC-157 enhances tendon fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis, accelerating tendon and ligament repair. It also exerts cytoprotective effects on the GI mucosa, promotes intestinal epithelial cell migration (wound healing), and has demonstrated neuroprotective and cardioprotective properties in animal models. Additionally, it interacts with the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems.
BPC-157 is uniquely stable in human gastric juice, unlike most peptides which are rapidly degraded. This stability allows for oral administration with meaningful bioavailability for GI effects. When injected subcutaneously, it is rapidly absorbed with peak levels within 30-60 minutes. The estimated half-life of 4-6 hours from animal data supports twice-daily dosing for optimal tissue levels. It does not appear to undergo significant hepatic metabolism and is cleared renally.
Typical Dose
250-500 mcg per day for subcutaneous/intramuscular injection. 500-1000 mcg per day for oral use (higher dose to account for lower bioavailability). For acute injuries: 500 mcg twice daily (injected near injury site) for 4-6 weeks. For general healing/GI support: 250-500 mcg once daily.
Frequency
Once or twice daily. For injury healing, twice daily (AM and PM) injections near the injury site produce the best results. For general systemic use, once daily is sufficient.
Administration
Subcutaneous injection (most common for systemic use) or intramuscular injection near the injury site for localized healing. Oral administration (capsules) is also used, particularly for GI healing, though systemic bioavailability is lower. Stable in gastric acid, which is unique among peptides.

Contraindications
No PCT required. BPC-157 has no effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, testosterone production, or any hormonal pathway. It can be used continuously without cycling, though most protocols run for 4-8 weeks per injury.
