DHB (Dihydroboldenone, also known as 1-Testosterone) is the 5-alpha reduced metabolite of Boldenone. It is a potent anabolic compound with approximately double the anabolic potency of testosterone while having significantly lower androgenic activity. It does not aromatize to estrogen and produces lean, dry gains similar to Primobolan but at lower required doses.
Notes
DHB is gaining popularity as a "stronger Primobolan" alternative at a lower cost per effective dose. The primary drawback is the often severe post-injection pain (PIP) that can last 3-7 days per injection. This is due to the compound having a high melting point, causing it to crash out of solution in the muscle. Strategies to mitigate PIP include: warming the oil, injecting into larger muscle groups, diluting with sterile MCT oil, and choosing formulations with higher solvent concentrations. Despite the PIP issue, users who tolerate it consistently report excellent lean gains with minimal side effects.
Dihydroboldenone is the 5-alpha reduced form of Boldenone, structurally analogous to how DHT is the 5-alpha reduced form of testosterone. It binds to the androgen receptor with approximately twice the affinity of testosterone, explaining its high anabolic potency. Being already 5-alpha reduced, it cannot undergo further reduction and therefore has reduced androgenic activity in tissues that express high 5-alpha reductase (skin, prostate, hair follicles). DHB cannot be aromatized to estrogen, producing zero estrogenic side effects. It enhances nitrogen retention, protein synthesis, and promotes lean tissue accrual without the water retention associated with aromatizing compounds.
DHB is most commonly available as the cypionate ester, providing a half-life of approximately 7-9 days. Peak plasma levels occur within 24-48 hours post-injection with gradual decline over the following week. Steady-state is reached after approximately 4-5 weeks. The compound is metabolized hepatically but is not c17-alpha alkylated, posing minimal hepatotoxic risk. Limited pharmacokinetic studies exist compared to more established AAS. The high melting point of the raw compound (approximately 192C) contributes to the PIP issues, as it can precipitate from solution after injection.
Typical Dose
200-300mg/week (beginner), 300-400mg/week (intermediate), 400-600mg/week (advanced)
Frequency
2x per week
Administration
Intramuscular injection
Half-Life
7-9 days (cypionate ester, most common)
Contraindications
Begin PCT 10-14 days after the last DHB Cypionate injection. Standard PCT: Nolvadex 20mg/day for 4-6 weeks, or Clomid 50mg/day for 3-4 weeks. DHB is moderately suppressive; recovery is generally manageable with standard protocols. HCG during cycle at standard doses is recommended. Bloodwork 4-6 weeks after PCT to confirm HPTA recovery.
