Boldenone Undecylenate (Equipoise/EQ) is a testosterone derivative with a double bond at the C1-2 position, giving it a lower androgenic profile and reduced estrogenic activity compared to testosterone. Originally developed for veterinary use, it is valued in bodybuilding for lean mass gains, enhanced vascularity, increased appetite, and elevated red blood cell production.
Notes
EQ is a patience compound - it takes 6-8 weeks to fully saturate due to the very long undecylenate ester. Cycles should be at least 16-20 weeks to get the full benefit. The most important side effect to monitor is hematocrit elevation; EQ is one of the strongest RBC stimulators among AAS. Regular blood donation (every 8-12 weeks) or therapeutic phlebotomy may be necessary. EQ has a unique property of acting as a mild aromatase inhibitor through its primary metabolite (1,4-dienedione), which can crash estrogen if you are also using an AI. Many users find they need NO AI when running testosterone and EQ together.
Boldenone binds to the androgen receptor similarly to testosterone but with modified pharmacodynamics due to the C1-2 double bond. This structural modification reduces the rate of 5-alpha reduction, meaning less conversion to a potent DHT-like metabolite (1-testosterone/dihydroboldenone), resulting in reduced androgenic effects in skin and prostate. Boldenone aromatizes to estradiol at approximately 50% the rate of testosterone, and its primary aromatized metabolite (1,4-dienedione) actually acts as an aromatase inhibitor, further reducing net estrogenic load. EQ is a potent stimulator of erythropoietin (EPO) production in the kidneys, leading to significant increases in red blood cell mass. It also enhances nitrogen retention, protein synthesis, and IGF-1 expression, though to a lesser degree than nandrolone or trenbolone.
Boldenone Undecylenate has an exceptionally long undecylenate ester (11-carbon chain), resulting in very slow absorption from the IM depot. Peak plasma levels occur at 3-5 days post-injection with a terminal half-life of 14-16 days. However, true steady-state is not reached until 6-8 weeks of consistent dosing, which is why EQ cycles must be long (16-20+ weeks) to realize full benefits. The compound is metabolized hepatically with metabolites that are extremely persistent. The metabolite boldenone sulfate conjugate can be detected in urine for up to 18 months, one of the longest detection windows of any AAS.
Typical Dose
300-400mg/week (beginner), 400-600mg/week (intermediate), 600-1000mg/week (advanced)
Frequency
1-2x per week
Administration
Intramuscular injection
Half-Life
14-16 days
Contraindications
Wait 21-28 days after the last Boldenone injection to begin PCT due to the very long undecylenate ester. Bridge with testosterone propionate during the waiting period. PCT: Nolvadex 20mg/day for 6-8 weeks, or Clomid 50mg/day for 4 weeks then 25mg/day for 4 weeks. The prolonged clearance time of EQ makes recovery more drawn out. Bloodwork at 6 and 12 weeks post-PCT. HCG use during cycle is recommended to support recovery.
